I liked my enormous bathroom, comfortable bed and sitting in the courtyard with a glass of wine. Overall, I chose it because it was described as a 14th Century coaching in and I enjoyed everything that came with this age of building.
The history of the hotel itself and its location within the town.
Difficult to find a member of staff who was fluent in English
The location was excellent, staff pleasant and appeared to be trying hard having recently taken over. Breakfast was good.
The hotels own website was very misleading and our expectations were high. The room did not bear any resemblance to those shown on the site and was mediocre. We were very disappointed.
Location and historic setting. Large room, lovely dining room and the welcome and breakfast was very good.
Room 2. decoration making good required to ceiling follow a leak from floor above. Hard pillows.
The owners were absolutely brilliant. They were very friendly & helpful. We were visiting for a wedding in Woodstock and had a two night stay. The breakfast was fantastic. The room was comfortable & the Marlborouh Arms itself is full of character. The price is fair in comparison with other hotels in the area. A visit to the Black Prince Pub and a walk through Blenhiem Palace grounds is a must.
The location was convenient for visiting Blenheim Palace, shopping in Bicester Village, sightseeing in Oxford and local village dining with various options.
We booked a deluxe room (no 1) and got the standard room (no 5) but were charged the agreed rate for the better room. The bathroom ceiling had cobwebs and there were hairs around the taps in the sink.
Staff is good , but service is pathetic ....Lady was not not cooperative at all ,,,,they don;t bother if customer is not happy with their behaviour or not
beautiful building well kept. Staff very good allthough it does feel a bit like Fawlty Towers.
Low on atmosphere, maybe because of the time of year/week
Very pleasant and helpfull owners/staff lovely hotel will be great when it is completely up and running (undergoing renovation)
The room was big and the shower room was well appointed. The breakfast was good
Although the shower room was very nice it could have done with a power shower as it was a deluxe room We had to ask for a heater as the radiator was not on and didnt come on during our stay .The traffic noise was verybad .we could here too much of what was going onin other rooms!!!
Clean, relaxed, homely & historic. Lovely big room.
Breakfast was included but cooked option didn't appear fresh-likely been sitting on hot plate for a while.
Warm welcome, good atmosphere, comfortable room. Bathroom recently refurbished and spotlessly clean. Good sized flat screen TV and tea making facility.
Dinner menu limited
The staff were great and the location in town is very good.
The bathroom in our room and that of our friends really were not good enough. Both still had avocado colour suites which I think demonstrate how old they were. The bedrooms were OK but they really must do something about the standard of the bathrooms for me to want to stay there again.
Comfortable beds and delicious breakfast. Accomodating hosts.
if you didnt know the area as we did not then the front of the hotel looked unwelcoming as it was in darkness. It did give you a phone no to ring but it would have been nice to have a sign to tell you where to go.
Quiet location, large well furnished rooms, comfy beds. Lovely breakfast, well cooked with quality ingredients. Close proximity to a number of pubs and restaurants.
